Biography
Daura Menezes navigates between two artistic worlds. Dancing has been part of her life since forever. She is a ballerina. The counterpoint to the movement came in the passion for Photography. Nothing could be more natural than her lenses turning to dance.
The intensity of this dedication is clear from the fact that Daura put aside a successful corporate career to dedicate herself exclusively to Art. A change that, in her words, resulted in the fullness of a more meaningful life.
This jump, this proof of confidence, made her broaden her interests. And she expanded her work to other horizons, rediscovering the fascination of other images: landscapes, sports, theater. Her watchful eye has found new ways to share her worldview through images that have led to exhibitions and a growing interest about her work.
In her works, movement is a central point. Hands and bodies transmit their energy and enigmas to us, leaving the interpretation, assimilation and sedimentation of their own impressions and sensations up to the observer. Daura navigates very well in B&W, but also with colors, her photos acquire a liberating character, especially in the female universe. Whether through hands that fly like birds, or through sharing the great spaces.
By combining dances, photos and travels, Daura Menezes embraces other spheres, as this mix of techniques and framing provides the viewer an artistic experience that is, at the same time, redemptive and therapeutic.
